This letter was written by the founders of Caapid Simplified on May 1st, 2021 to the operating team in India, celebrating labor day amidst difficult circumstances from the Covid pandemic overshadowing the enthusiastic progress of the started. Posted here for public viewing, since the message might resonate with a broader audience.

Hi Team,

Happy labor day! This is quite an oxymoron since we are all entrepreneurs here.

What we have created in the past 2 months is quite the team, and that is something we ought to be proud of. Though we don’t treat each other as labor, we definitely have repurposed our lives to work in the service of dentists and therefore deserve wishes on this special day.

We have replaced the word “sell” with “serve”, “requirements” with “needs”, and “package” with “fellowship”. These are signs of our progress as a team to move from a crude corporation to an empathetic platform. We have done all this at a time when we ourselves deserve sympathy from serving, supporting, and needing mental strength from the stress the pandemic creates in the people around us. I bow in respect!

We are just a week away from our second investor presentation this year, and I wish to reinforce the three things Nourah and I called out as founders of this company –

Insurance can’t protect where immunity fails

Prioritize your health:

  • I’m saddened by the fact that we sleep at odd hours, fall ill and do toxic things to our body. Tell me if you want to join a 30-minute zoom workout every day and I will arrange it. Bonus: you can keep your videos off!
  • You are now healthcare professionals, literally in the service of those who serve others. You should know by now that insurance can’t save you, where immunity fails to do so.
Difference between getting lost and navigating the ‘web’

Plan to learn; learn to plan:

  • Allocate time every day to learn something new. Share what you are learning with the world on LinkedIn. Let me share my most private personal goal that I had for learning. In 2015, I promised myself to finish three articles every day on The Ken magazine before I left the closet completing my morning dues — “Something went in as something went out”. Yuck! I know, but it made me wiser!
  • The biggest problem with planning in a startup is getting lost. So much to do, but stop us from doing the next immediate thing. Until you learn how to plan, use me to help with mapping next steps.

You might all know that “may day” in a different context refers to an emergency. This May 1st, I call out with urgency, that you adopt the above three priorities into your routine.

Good luck team!

Please complete the ‘delta’ capacity analysis, hire before demand, develop a system of follow-ups with those we don’t transact with, and finally discover customer needs with empathy.

Sincerely, in your service!
